An Unexpected Lobster Queso Detour
The Queso Connection
Wait. LOBSTER QUESO?! Just when you think you've explored every possible variation of melted cheese, a restaurant on Alabama's Eastern Shore gives you an entirely new reason to plan a road trip. Tulum Mexican Cuisine in Daphne brings contemporary Mexican cooking to Baldwin County, with a menu that ventures well beyond familiar Tex-Mex favorites. But it's the Lobster Dip that stopped us in our tracks: queso with roasted garlic, caramelized onions, tomato and cilantro. There's also Tulum Queso Fusion, a Rotel Dip with picadillo and pico de gallo, and Choriqueso for those who like a little sausage with their melted cheese. We haven't tasted this one yet, but lobster and queso together? That's exactly the sort of discovery that makes us want to follow the cheese into unfamiliar territory. The Alabama Queso Trail just got a whole lot more interesting.
