The Queso Connection
Bakersfield is one of my crowd-favorite stops on the Downtown Nashville Honky-Tonk Queso Crawl, just off Broadway and perfectly positioned for tacos, queso and then wandering back toward the neon. It's also where Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad once personally poured me a shot of their Dos Hombres mezcal during a Nashville appearance. I can't say I walked away thinking they were particularly warm and fuzzy, but come on: Walter White and Jesse Pinkman poured my drink. That's still a pretty great Nashville story. I don't drink anymore, but I don't erase the stories from when I did. This city gave me some wonderfully strange ones. Now I'm coming back to these streets with something different in my glass and the same curiosity about what's around the next corner.
